School parliament

members of parliament
Our traditional School Council has evolved into a School Parliament. Here a group of pupils are elected by their peers to represent the views of all pupils and to improve their school. Parliament is made up of 20 pupils, each belonging to and representing one of our four committees; Curriculum and Learning, Fundraising and Events; Sport and Wellbeing and Environment.
Each committee meets every four weeks to discuss what actions they can take, along with the whole school community, to make improvements in their specific area of expertise. The MPs also work closely with the teaching staff in the Curriculum Teams. MPs are responsible for carrying out the ideas that have been discussed and agreed. Minutes are taken and published on the display boards in the School Hall.
Being a member of School Parliament allows all children across the school to have their voices heard but it also gives the members of School Parliament opportunities to work collaboratively; take responsibility; work democratically; and put their ideas into action.
we make a difference
In the past few months some of the changes/events we have initiated are:
- Helped to load the vans with donations from the Lane End Community for Ukranian refugees
- Held cake sales to raise money to fund school trips
- Litter picking at the weekend with local MP, Steve Baker
- Meeting with staff on Curriculum Teams to discuss roles, responsibilities and what improvements are needed
